Not on viewDescriptionMyrna Báez granted this work, as well as other nudes in her career, a meaning different from that accorded, traditionally and since antiquity, to representations of undressed female bodies. Báez’s nudes do not seek to portray the ideal of classical beauty, nor are they subjected to the male gaze. By painting the figure with her back to the viewer, revealing few details of her anatomy, Báez managed to eliminate the erotic connotations imposed on many female nudes in art. In addition, the mirrored dresser and the landscape in the background show the way in which Báez merged interior and exterior spaces.
