DescriptionThe atmosphere of the Caribbean tropics is the main motif of this urban landscape by Jaime Carrero. Evocative of a mid-morning downpour, this painting shows the artist’s exploration of color and technique. The diagonal brushstrokes that cover several schematic architectural structures and some vegetation suggest the movement of rainfall. Meanwhile, the predominance of warm colors—such as yellow and orange—recalls the characteristic steam felt and seen on days when the sun peeks through rainclouds in Puerto Rico. The veil of colors covering the buildings is reminiscent of rainbows seen during sun showers.
