Not on viewDescriptionSpanish artist Joaquín Sorolla came in contact with the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painters of Paris, whose works he saw firsthand during his trips to France. Their influence is visible in his use of colored shadows and swift brushstrokes. The artist presents a garden scene, a common theme among Impressionist painters who frequently worked outdoors. In the painting, a woman wearing a summer dress sits on the edge of a pool, dipping her feet in the water. She is thought to be Sorolla's daughter María, former owner of the painting.
