DescriptionThe Museo de Arte de Ponce acquired this work in 1962 at an exhibition of the artist's work in the Travelling Art Gallery. It is an example of how Puerto Rican artists of her generation were interested in exploring themes related to their Taíno and African heritage. Five figures take part in the religious ceremony with which the Taínos honored their gods and ancestors. Brilliant colors, free, pasty brushstrokes, and scratches on the canvas reflect the artist's expressionist style.
