DescriptionRodón’s interest in human nature is clearly shown in "La matinée," which challenges the characteristic sensual or erotic tones found in traditional female nudes. Rodón employed different shades within a limited color palette. The painting also showcases his unique technique, which involved mixing oil paint with linseed oil and turpentine. Unlike typical nudes in art history, Rodón portrays the figure outside an erotic context. She looks directly at the viewer, and her upright stance is echoed by the umbrella's verticality, conveying strength and defiance in the face of the viewer’s scrutiny.
