DescriptionBeginning in the 1960s, Fernández undertook a series of black and white paintings. His interest in accenting tectonic qualities is evident in this work, with its monochromatic palette. The “trompe lóeil” and eroticism of the form converge in a surprising juxtaposition of plastic and metal. The image is simultaneously reminiscent of a breast and some strange artifact, in a powerful synthesis of Eros and technology.
