DescriptionThis painting represents a simplified landscape through the use of bright colors applied as flat areas that define the sky, hills in the distance, the sand, the sea, and the typical vegetation of a Caribbean island. Trelles distances himself from the precedents of Western painting and uses the non-Western as a source of inspiration, specifically, the ancient style of Chinese landscape painting, a tradition he learned about through his university studies. This has led him to identify his production as “Chino-latino”.
