DescriptionDuring the 1990s, Luis Hernández Cruz created several works in which human figures and landscapes hide behind a curtain of colorful vertical stripes. By employing this style in this work, the artist broke down and manipulated the forms of human figures and objects, creating shapes that resist a fixed and predetermined representation and achieving a painting that oscillates between abstraction and figuration. The vertical lines in this work highlight the flat, two-dimensional aspect of the canvas.
