Not on viewDescriptionUsing brilliant colors and vibrant brushwork, di Chirico skillfully captures the celebratory happiness of family members and friends at the door of a Neapolitan church after a baptism. The artwork is representative of the renewed Naturalist style popularized in southern Italy in the last decade of the nineteenth century. This new Naturalism in Italian art documented the customs of the towns and villages of the region and echoed the literary movements of the time. The artist’s precise depiction of the diverse regional attire of the time in the painting stands out.
