Not on viewDescriptionGiovanni di Piermatteo Boccati was a transitional figure between the Late Gothic manner and the Renaissance styles that took root in the central region of Italy in the mid-fifteenth century. In this painting, Boccati draws the sitter’s facial features very precisely, which shows the influence of Piero della Francesca, one of the most admired painters of the time. The attribution of this painting to Boccati has been discussed and debated over the years.
