Not on viewDescriptionDelilah, one of the strong women from the Bible, is presented by Symbolist painter Gustave Moreau as another example of the decadent femme fatale. Scantily clad and covered with glistening jewels, she sits in a dimly lit palace interior to contemplate the downfall of Samson, the hero she has seduced and rendered defenseless. With dabs and streaks of paint, the artist creates a dreamlike surrounding of dank moss studded with the crimson reds of the flowers.
