DescriptionCarrero uses his sick son as his model; he is sitting on his bed, covered by a colorful rag quilt. The boy’s pallor and his disturbing gaze evoke the anguish of the illness. The irregularity of the squares balances the composition and gives movement to the scene. The forceful and aggressive brushstrokes are characteristic of Carrero’s work.
